Sunday January 16th Resources
As you gather at home this coming Sunday, here are a few simple ways to worship below. Read through the passages slowly together and spend time praying or discussing the passage together. You also can consider asking a few questions about the practice of Sabbath.
Here are three points or questions of reflection toward building a healthy sabbath rhythm in your life:
What activity or practice could you do, that is not unpaid work, that would bring joy, delight, or fun into your day?
What concerns or obstacles do you have or see about engaging in sabbath?
Identify a designated period of time to be your sabbath (ideally 24 hours), and then identify some way of marking the beginning of your sabbath and the end of your sabbath.(candle lighting, prayer, reading a psalm, saying a blessing, singing a song, etc.)
“BREATHING DIFFERENT AIR” TEACHINGS
We are in a current teaching series called Breathing Different Air. As we step into the new year as a community, we are exploring the spiritual discipline of practicing Sabbath. The Sabbath is a day blessed by God and set aside for rest and worship. We as humans are bent and conditioned towards restlessness, so we model the restfulness of Jesus in the practice of Sabbath - which is more than just a day, but instead a posture we live from all week long. If you’ve missed the last two teachings through the series, feel free to catch up with the link below.
