Being active participants in God’s mission of redeeming the people of Bakersfield and across the world, we see a call for followers of Jesus to live in a way that invites the practice of generosity. The call is to participate in generosity modeled by Jesus himself. As we move toward the close of 2021 and consider the end of our year, we know that most ministries and non-profit organizations rely on year-end giving to meet budget. Year-end giving is an additional opportunity to practice generosity in your life as you obey and follow Jesus.

We wanted to invite you to consider supporting some of the ministries we believe in and partner with, locally and globally. In addition to River & Way’s practical and financial partnership with these ministries, please consider giving an individual financial gift of support.

Our desire as we follow Jesus is to go above and beyond our comfort level in all areas of our life as we seek to see the Kingdom of God break in here in Bakersfield and around the world.

May our hearts seek to be generous in the same way Christ has been generous with us.

Martyn and Jamie Crooks

Re:Hope Church - Glasgow, Scotland

The Crooks family have been serving at Westside AJC (the first “A Jesus Church” that has helped create and lead the family of churches River & Way is a part of) as Pastors of Kids for 3 years, and are now returning home to lead Re:Hope Glasgow Southside. This church, Re:Hope Glasgow Southside, is a young church plant in a city that is much further along in the post-truth and post-Christian spectrum than any current American city. The people’s need for Jesus goes without saying, and as we are in relationship with Martyn and Jamie we see their leading this church as a practical partnership to carry out River & Way’s conviction to plant churches and support church plants as a part of Jesus’ redemptive work in the world.

Please pray for them as they just transitioned back to Scotland on December 13th. Also, please consider supporting them financially by giving through River & Way Church Planting Funds. When you give, select the drop down option for “Church Planting” so we can allocate the funds appropriately.

The Ramos Family

Multiply - Phan Thong, Thailand

Cecil and Tracey Ramos are Bakersfield natives and have given themselves to serve Jesus faithfully in Thailand. The Ramos Family, including their two boys Solas and Judah, have established their home in Thailand and serve in the Phan Thong, Chonburi community as they help lead local gatherings of the church and meet both spiritual and physical needs of the community around them. They also serve as Regional Directors as a part of Multiply, a Mennonite Brethren church planting and missions network, ministering to other missionaries across the country.

Please prayerfully consider supporting the Ramos Family and the work God is doing in Thailand by giving to Multiply with the link below.

Bakersfield Angels

Foster Care Support - Bakersfield, Ca

Bakersfield Angels is a wrap around ministry that provides support and care for individual foster children as well as support for foster families. We join them in supporting and championing the work of foster parents and also believing that the church should provide the relational stability necessary for children currently in foster care. If you would like to learn more about supporting a foster family through their love box program click here.

If you would like to find out more information about being a mentor to a foster child as a part of their Dare to Dream program click here.

Not every follower of Jesus should be a foster parent, but every follower of Jesus is called to care for the children who are most vulnerable in our city.

Bakersfield Angels bridges the gap for the church to faithfully show up in the spaces of hurt and need experienced by children; as well as provide support for families doing the hard work of opening their lives to foster children.

Please prayerfully consider supporting the ministry of Bakersfield Angels as they provide care for foster children in relational need and foster families in need by giving through the link below.
